MICHIGAN DEFEATS WISCONSIN

The Wolverines out shot Wisconsin 38-14 in a 4-1 victory in the opening round of the NCAA men's hockey tourney. Jr. forward Jeff Tambellini led Michigan with a 4 point night (two goals, two assists). The Wolverines take on #3 seed Colorado College, winners of a surprisingly tough game with Colgate 6-5.

Meanwhile, top ranked and #1 seed Boston College barely escaped against unranked and 16th seeded Mercyhurst 4-3, while North Dakota defeated Boston University 4-0.

One of the really fun things about watching college hockey is seeing the sons of former NHL players perform. Included in this category are Michigan's Jeff Tambellini (son of Steve) and Eric Nystrom (son of 4 time Stanley Cup winner Bob), along with Boston University freshman Chris Bourque (son of hall of famer Ray).
