YELLOW PILLS

Yellow Pills was a legendary fanzine that rose to great fame in the early 90's, then flamed out just about as quickly as it caught fire. It's creator, Jordan Oakes, apparently has a huge collection of "power pop" music from obscure groups of the late 70's and early 80's. Reissue label Numero Group has a new compilation CD of thirty three of the best songs of Oakes collection, titled YELLOW PILLS: PREFILL. Although you've probably never heard of any of the 19 bands on this album (I hadn't), it is getting rave reviews from Salon Magazine, usually a pretty reliable source. If the rest of the album is as good as the two free downloads off it, it is indeed an album worthy of your collection!
