NOTRE DAME HOCKEY.... SUDDENLY LOOKING UP!

Notre Dame has a new hockey coach. And he has an impressive resume! He is Jeff Jackson, currently assistant coach of the New York Islanders and formerly head coach of the Ontario (junior) Hockey League's Guelph Storm and the US under 18 team. Prior to his stint with the US National team, he was the Head Coach at Lake Superior State.

He left Lake Superior State in 1996 to help start the US National Development Team program, but not before he made the Lakers a perennial national power (something they have not been since his leaving), and Division 1 champions in 1992. He has a reputation for developing players, and earns high praise from those who played for him on the US under 18 team. His experience in the US development program should be a big boon to the Irish Youth Hockey program as well!

With former head coach Dave Poulin now working full time on making a $15 million renovation of the north dome a reality, and a proven championship caliber coach on board, things may finally be looking up for hockey fans in South Bend!
